What is sealant, and where is it required?
Generally speaking, sealants are used for two main purposes: joining one surface to another and protecting particular areas. (And that's exactly what Rocco Sealants do - we're sealant specialists afterall!)
Mastic sealant is a type of flexible, durable sealant used when flexibility in the finished product is important.
Our team commonly uses mastic sealant in construction jobs to connect doors and windows to the main structure, as well as in bathrooms to seal the area around bathtubs and shower trays.
It can be applied to almost any surface, whether it's made of concrete, steel, or wood.
Although mastic sealants are extremely flexible, we don’t recommend using it in areas where there will be a lot of movement as it may eventually wear down. We also advise against using mastic for large-scale sealant applications such as filling cracks in masonry or gaps between bricks, since it's not best suited to delicate finishing jobs.
